From flats to stages…
New Visions has gone through many phases and iterations in its attempt to become the community that it has become today.
Originally a small passion project, New Visions started up as ‘Literary Love’ in the middle of the first lockdown in 2020. We were a small group of people interested in the literary arts and bringing art to a world in need. We started off meeting in a flat, then online, outside, however we could to keep the spirit alive!
The idea was to make art accessible to the community. We believe that everyone should be able to have an opportunity to learn more about the arts and develop their skills. We strive to encourage our local community to get involved in the arts and challenge themselves and reach beyond what they thought possible.
As the restrictions reduced, we were finally able to meet more freely and produce more events. Nonetheless, it was still difficult trying to work around the challenges of starting up a new artistic group. Thus, the name transitioned to New Visions, a referencing nod towards the founder’s uni days:
Sometimes, things don’t quite go according to plan. But frankly, what makes one truly a great artist is how the situation is handled. Something beautiful can still be created despite the chaos, frustrations, tears, and errors. Just shout, “NEW VISION!” And start again…. you might discover something greater than what you originally imagined.
